A reason people choose Knauf Wallboard Plasterboard is due to its reputation and also its ease of use and installation. The Knauf Wallboard itself can easily be cut. The Wallboard would need to be measured and marked. It is cut by scoring with a snap or snapping and using a fine-tooth saw. Knauf Wallboard should ideally be cut on a table or a high surface. This is to allow the saw to easily cut through the wallboard.

Knauf Wallboards are manufactured using the highest quality gypsum. This makes the plasterboards strong and versatile. The range also features 100% recycled paper liners that come from an FSC-certified paper mill. The Knauf Wallboard range provides excellent performance that can achieve space division and separating walls, lift shaft protection and x-ray shielding.

Knauf is environmentally conscious and uses only the most sustainable gypsum source. The warehouses in which the product is manufactured only use flue gas DE sulphurised (FGD) gypsum. This is a recycled material created as a by-product of controlling emissions from coal-fired power stations.

Knauf wallboards can be installed in a range of methods. These methods include:

How To Store Knauf Wallboard

Knauf Wallboard Plasterboard should be stored in a clean and dry environment. Harsh weather conditions could affect the quality of the product itself so we recommend that the Knauf Wallboard is stored inside. When transporting packs, they can be heavy so the packs should be lifted using a forklift truck. The Wallboards should also not be stacked more than one high. Extra caution should be taken when moving the boards as you do not want to knock the edges or corners and therefore damage the board itself.

How To Install Knauf Wallboards

Knauf Wallboards are generally installed fixed onto timber joists or rafters to create a neat wall finish before the decoration stage – such as painting or plastering. The boards can be applied to ceilings, walls and wooden rafters within loft spaces. They can be used to secure construction factors such as insulation materials.

Before applying Knauf Wallboard, you need to measure the relevant area it is being applied to and then cut the boards to size if required. Always take into consideration any openings such as windows or outlets. You can also use wooden battens to secure the boards to the area. Knauf Wallboards can be fixed onto timber frames with screws and tools. Screws should be fixed at 10-20cm intervals and should not be too deep as the boards may crack. When applying plasterboard, make sure the board edge is positioned to the centre of the uprights. If you are joining boards then ensure they are tightly butted together. Stagger the boards where possible so that your seams do not end up on the same stud. The reason you should do this is to reduce the possibility of cracks developing when you apply your skim plaster finish.

Once the boards are secured and fixed into place they can be decorated or plastered. Scrim tape should be applied to all board joins and corner beads to try and prevent the board from crumbling and cracking during the plastering process.

Remember, you should always consult a building professional before starting a building project. This is essential to ensure you meet building regulations and also avoid potential damage or health and safety risks. Construction mistakes can be costly so ensure installs are carried out to a professional level. If you are conducting the installation yourself then ensure a risk assessment has been carried out and that you have all the correct building materials and equipment required to complete the project.
