Siniat Db board is a dense plasterboard made up of a gypsum core with strong paper linings bonded to each side designed for the application of internal walls to prevent noise from traveling throughout a residential and commercial buildings. GTEC boards are easy to cut, handle, and install.

The boards are composed of Aerated Calcium sulphate di-hydrate enclosed inside liners made from recycled wastepaper with bound edges. Core and papers are bonded with starch. Edge glue is PVA. GTEC boards are a quick and efficient way to complete a room with a professional finish.

These boards come in sizes between 3000mm and 1200mm and in thicknesses of 12.5mm and 15mm with a tapered edge. Tapered edge boards can be taped and filled for the perfect flush finish, and they can accept a single coat of gypsum plaster in most cases. The board name and batch number can be found written at the back and on the long edges of the board.

GTEC Siniat dB Board

The DB board provides superior acoustic performance and is used where sound insulation is critical. Sound insulation is often installed in partition walls and ceilings within multiple property types including houses, offices spaces, hotels, and so on. This is to reduce noise levels travelling between spaces and to create a more comfortable environment, preventing noise from neighbours, media products, footsteps, and so on. DB Boards can cut-out noise up to 45 Rw dB when using a single layer of 15mm each side of a partition system.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Excellent acoustic qualities
  • Reduced noise transmissions
  • Available for new builds or refurbishments
  • Fire-Resistant of 30 minutes
  • Stronger and heavier than standard plasterboard
  • Durable and long lasting
  • Sizes designed to suit every project
  • The boards can be fixed with drywall screws
  • Suitable for direct decoration
  • High resistance to deformation
  • Singular or multiple layer applications
  • Accepts wide range of paint and finishing products
  • Easily finished with plaster

Cutting:

Siniat boards can be cut to size by scoring one side of the board with a sharp knife, snapping the board over a hard edge, and then scoring the other side. Holes for sockets etc can be cut with a utility saw.

Storage:

DB Sound boards should be stored internally on a flat surface. If indoor storage is not an option, ensure the correct waterproofing materials have been applied and the boards are off the ground. If the boards should be allowed to get wet do not use them. Do not put any excess weight onto the boards as although they are rigid, they can crumble from the inside due to too much pressure.

Siniat offers a range of plasterboard materials including GTEC standard boards, GTEC Fire V boards, GTEC Db boards, GTEC Moisture boards, and Thermal PIR Boards. All boards are versatile, providing a high-performance finish for all building interiors.

Different boards can be applied for specifications such as sound control, fire protection and moisture-resistance. Wallboards are a must have within the construction industry and used by builders, contractors, and for do-it-yourself projects. This wide range means there is a board for every project.

Siniat GTEC Boards can be installed in a range of methods. These methods include:

  • Metal and Timber partition wall applications
  • Wall linings
  • Ceiling applications

Installation guide:

Installing:
Start by measuring and cutting your Db Board to size to fit the relevant area. The boards should be installed horizontally. Ensure the boards line up with the existing timber or metal frame to allow the fixings to hold.
Fixing:
The boards should be fixed with the decorative side facing outwards from the wall to receive flush finishes. Fixings should be installed at least 13mm from cut edges and 10mm from bound (un-cut) edges. Wherever possible position cut edges at inside angles. Stagger horizontal and vertical joints between layers by at least 600mm.
Jointing:
After fixing the boards in place, start adding finishings as soon as you can to reduce the risk of damage or UV degradation to the paper linings. Ensure corner beads are fitted using the required fixings and joint tape is added to butted boards to avoid cracks and scuffs when finishing.
Full-surface finishing:
After fixing the boards in place and jointing steps have been applied, start adding surface finishings as soon as you can.
Decoration:

After the finishings have been applied and allowed to dry, start decorating as soon as possible. The boards require priming with GTEC Universal Sealer prior to decorating. The boards can then be decorated with your chosen method such as wallpaper or paint.
Note:

For minor damage and dents, first check that the board's core isn’t shattered. If the board's core is intact, the damaged area can be filled with the required filler, allowing it to be set, a second coat can then be applied if needed. When the filler is dry, sand it to a smooth finish before redecorating the repaired area. For a damaged core, broken edges or extensive damage, repair and replacement may be needed depending on the application method.

Fixings must be suitable for the intended substrate:

GTEC Self Tapping Screws for attaching plasterboard to thin gauge metal (up to 0.7 mm); GTEC Self Drilling Screws for attaching plasterboard to thick gauge metal (up to 2.5 mm); GTEC High Thread Screws for attaching plasterboard to timber.

Jointing Finishing & Painting GTEC Standard Board should be joined and finished with GTEC Jointing Systems.
