Superglass Superwall 36 cavity wall batt is a Glass Mineral Wool roll, designed to improve the thermal conductivity of your home or work environment. It is non-combustible insulation with the best possible Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification. The slabs are odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, do not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould, or bacteria. Multi-rolls contain no ozone-depleting substances or greenhouse gases. This product is manufactured from up to 84% recycled glass.
Superglass wall batts are extremely durable and when installed correctly, they will have a life span that lasts for as long as the building does.
The Superglass cavity wall batts are tightly compact and lightweight which makes storing, handling, and installing the insulation quick and easy. Extra care should be taken to avoid crushing edges or corners of the batts. Glass and Rock Mineral Wool products are easier to install than other insulation materials such as rigid boards as the flexible material allows them to adapt to any slight imperfections in the substrate and knit together, eliminating any air gaps. The absence of air gaps is crucial to achieving a high-quality thermal performance.
For long term protection on site, the product should be clean, dry, and undamaged and stored indoors or under a weatherproof covering. The polythene packs are designed for short term protection only and they should not be left permanently exposed to the elements. If the product gets damaged, contaminated, or wet they must not be used.
Batts can be cut, using a sharp knife or fine-toothed saw, to fit around any openings including windows and doors, including air bricks etc. It is essential that cut pieces completely fill the relevant spaces and that no gaps are left in the insulation

How to insulate a full fill masonry cavity wall
- Build a section of the inner leaf, with the first row of wall ties, at maximum 600mm horizontal spacings, where the insulation is to be begin. Placing wall ties directly onto the damp proof course (DPC) is not recommended. The first run of batts may begin below DPC level (minimum 150mm) to provide edge insulation for the floor.
- The leading leaf (brick or block) is then built up to the required height, with wall ties placed at a vertical spacing of 450mm ensuring the drip of the tie is located halfway across the remaining cavity width. Ensure excess mortar is cleaned from the cavity face of the leading leaf, and the batts placed on the wall ties behind the retaining clips, to form a run of batts joint and closely butted.
- The batt should be compressed slightly and placed between the upper and lower wall ties to form a closely butt-jointed run. The drip on each of the upper wall ties is inserted into the top of the batt and must be positioned to shed water away from the inner leaf. This is important to ensure that it functions correctly. The other leaf is built up to the same level as the batt, with its inner face in contact with the batts.
- Consecutive sections of the wall, incorporating wall ties, are constructed and the batt installed proceeds up to the required height. Vertical joints must be staggered, and all joints tightly butt to avoid thermal bridging. The batts should be carefully cut to fit any protrusions in the wall or extra wall ties.
- For wide cavities, it is possible to use two layers of batts with vertical joints staggered both between layers and within layers. Appropriate wall ties should be used to accommodate the extra width of cavity; if unequal thicknesses of batts are used, the thinner layer should be placed nearest the outer leaf. Batts should be installed to the highest level of each wall.
- Where additional wall ties are required at less than 450mm vertical spacing, the batts must be cut and tidily fitted around them. Under no circumstances should the batts be pierced by the ties.
- Additional wall ties may be required to fulfil the structural requirements to ensure sufficient retention of the product or cut pieces.
