Kingspan Kooltherm K110 Soffit Board is part of the Premium Kooltherm 100 range and is a premium performance insulation board with a fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic core. The board is bonded to a glass tissue based facing on its front surface during manufacturing with low emissivity composite foil layer on its reverse side. The exposed facing used on Kingspan Kooltherm K110 Soffit Board has not been designed with the purpose of an aesthetic finish as its primary function. The blowing agent within this product has Zero Ozone Depletion Potential and Low Global Warming Potential.

The Kingspan K110 is 1200mm by 2400mm with thicknesses between 65mm and 85mm. It provides a thermal conductivity of just 0.019W/mK. K110 is quick and easy to install due to its lightweight materials. This product can be applied to new builds, extensions, and refurbishments. The K110 is extremely durable and long-lasting deposing on the supporting structure and the conditions of its use.

Key Features:

  • FM approved to Class 1 fire rating Class Number 4880
  • Unaffected by air infiltration
  • Resistant to the passage of water vapour
  • Non–deleterious material
  • Lower lambda
  • Square Edge
  • Resistance to Solvents, Fungi & Rodents

Kingspan K110 can be cut using a fine-toothed saw or using sharp knife and snapping the board over an edge and cutting along the other side. Board should be stored in weatherproof area on a flat surface. Any boards that have been allowed to get wet should NOT be used. Kingspan is committed to providing insulation boards manufactured sustainably. All Kingspan product packaging is recyclable.

What is a Soffit?

A soffit is an exterior or interior feature installed to protect rafters from the elements. The soffit is generally the horizontal, up high, on the underside of any construction element. When rain or snow hits your roof, it runs down, and the overhang allows the water to flow away from your house. Soffit also serves an aesthetic purpose and add character to a property. Depending on the design of the roof system, the soffit may serve more important functional role. Soffit is the key to achieving natural ventilation in the loft. Soffit isn’t necessarily vented, but if a home has roof overhangs, it usually presents an opportunity to introduce air into the attic space and facilitate natural ventilation.

Kingspan Kooltherm K110 can be installed in a range of methods. These methods include:

Concrete soffits

Timber battens

Proprietary grid systems

HOW TO INSTALL SOFFIT INSULATION

Insulation boards should be installed break-bonded with joints lightly butted.

A minimum of 11 appropriate mechanical fixings is required to secure each insulation board to the soffit. These should be evenly distributed over the whole area of the board.

Depending on the soffit construction, further mechanical fixings may be required. This will depend on the height and width of the soffits, the geographical location of the building, and local topography. The requirement for additional fixings should also be assessed where the insulation boards may be subject to external wind pressure.

Fixings must penetrate at least 40mm into a solid substrate. Fixings much be located between 50 and 150mm from a boards edges and corners and should not overlap board joints.

If using soffit insulation with a foil outer face, joints should always be taped using a self-adhesive aluminium foil tape. This is not needed if the outer face is a non-combustible building board.

In the absence of other protection, any exposed edges should be protected by a self-adhesive aluminium foil tape, with an overlap onto the insulations board outer face.
