65mm Knauf Dritherm 37

Knauf DriTherm 37 65mm – an insulation material made from Glass mineral wool. Glass mineral wool, a type of mineral wool insulation that has been made from raw glass materials. These materials are heated until they melt and then spun to form a wool like fibre. Furthermore, the manufacturing process of Knauf Dritherm 37 is sustainable and uses organic materials.
65mm Knauf Dritherm 37 has two main properties – Thermal and Fire.

Thermal – 65mm Dritherm 37 has a thermal conductivity of just 0.037W/mK. The thermal conductivity means less heat will pass through the insulation slabs, keeping internal temperatures level. The thermal properties of the Dritherm 65mm will also prevent heat / energy escaping the building and save money on energy bills. Less energy escaping will also create a more energy efficient property.

Fire – Knauf is non-combustible and gives no contribution to the spread of fire. The Dritherm slab will not ignite due to flame exposure. Dritherm 37 has a melting point of over 1000ºc. The 65mm Dritherm gives more time for people to leave the building and prevent damage to the building structure.

Dritherm 37 65mm is the most used thickness when it comes to cavity wall insulation materials, and it is easy to handle and install.

Key Features Of 65mm Knauf Dritherm 37

  • Lightweight and easy to cut, handle, and install
  • Best possible fire performance
  • Great thermal qualities
  • More temperature controlled internal climate
  • Long lasting lifespan
  • Durable and reliable
  • Water repellent
  • Low density
  • Free from harmful gases (CFC and HCFC)
  • They do not add to the formation of any gases with Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) or Global Warming Potential (GWP)

65mm Dritherm 37 Slab Insulation is 1200mm x 455mm with a density of 17kg/m3.
Knauf slabs are soft to touch and can be cut using a saw or a sharp knife. These tools can sometimes leave a messy edge. Cut the slabs to size with a bit extra in length.

65mm DriTherm 37 Application

Dritherm 65mm slabs – designed for full fill, external masonry cavity wall applications. The Glass mineral wool slabs are formed into a rectangular shape, designed for easy installation within the building’s external walls. These slab dimensions fit easily between wall ties because of their size. The 65mm Dritherm 37 shape and size means there’s little cutting required.
The 65mm slabs are designed for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. In addition, Dritherm 37 can help to meet building regulations.
The slabs are extremely durable and last lasting. The 65mm DriTherm 37 will last for as long as the building does, and product performance will not reduce over time. Knauf glass mineral wool slabs are a well-used product within the construction industry. Unlike PIR Insulation boards, Dritherm is smaller and size with little need to cut the product and the slabs are flexible. The flexible slabs are easy to manipulate into most cavity spaces. Glass mineral wool also comes in tightly compressed packaging which is easy to manoeuvre around and store on a construction site.
Always consult a building / construction professional before insulation your property. This can be a costly and time effective mistake. Ensure the walls are free from condensation and mould before insulating. Please note, this is a guide only.

How To Install Dritherm 37 65mm Slabs

Step 1:
Firstly, Install wall ties in the inner leaf at 600mm horizontal centres
For suspended timber floors, wall ties start a minimum of 200mm below the top surface of the ground floor perimeter insulation upstand. Place the wall ties 900mm apart.
Continue constructing the inner leaf up to the next wall tie course. (450mm above the previous inner leaf). Position the next course of wall ties at regular horizontal centres. After that, place extra wall ties at jambs for all openings. Install the next course of blockwork to secure the ties.
After raising each section of the inner leaf and before installing the insulation board, excess mortar should be removed, and mortar droppings cleaned from exposed edges of the installed insulation boards.

Step 2:
Secondly, the first row of insulation slabs should now be installed between the two rows of wall ties (fleece must face outwards to cavity). Install each insulation slab tight against the inner leaf with joints tightly butted.
Next, secure each slab at a minimum of three points. Add Additional ties to satisfy structural requirements or to ensure adequate retention of the boards or cut pieces.

Step 3:
Thirdly, apply a self-adhesive breathable tape to all horizontal and vertical joints, board edges and abutting junction interfaces. (no less than 100mm wide and no less than 50mm either side of any edge. Additional layers may be applied.)
These surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease, dust, and dirt prior to application. After that, build the outer leaf to the level of the top of the boards and repeat the process. (Cavity of 10mm or less).
To complete, if finishing at a gable, continue 200mm beyond the height of the toper storey ceiling and a cavity tray installed above the insulation.
