Description

The Isover Acoustic Partition Roll is designed to improve the thermal conductivity of the property. This Isover roll is designed to reduce sound level when place within partition walls, floors, and lofts. This material is a strong and durable mat that is easy to cut and is quick to install. The acoustic roll is available in widths of 2x600mm and provides a thermal conductivity of 0.043W/mK. The acoustic rolls should be stored in dry conditions and preferably inside the building where the rolls will be installed. Do not stack too many rolls over each other to protect them from being damaged. The rolls are compressed into rolls when packaged so they can be easily moved and installed without taking up too much space in the property.

Key FEATURES

  • Incomparable sound insulation
  • Excellent thermal insulation
  • Rot-proof
  • Corrosion-resistant
  • Fire-safe
  • Lightweight
  • Easily installed
  • Made from Recycled material
  • Environmentally sustainable
  • Compatible with UK building regulations

Isover Acoustic Partition roll can be cut using a sharp knife. The material should be laid flat onto a board that can be disregarded after. A ruler or plank of wood can be used to hold the roll down flat and keep it in place, a Stanley blade can then be slid along with the insulation roll next to the ruler. The tighter the insulation is held the easier it is to cut. Protective gloves and eye goggles are recommended when cutting mineral wool rolls are the produced particles that can irritate the skin and eyes.

The Isover glass mineral wool roll offers high acoustic insulation to meet acoustic requirements in all domestic and non-residential applications. The Isover Acoustic Partition is thoroughly tested and recycled. The acoustic insulation roll is known for its far-reaching durability and strength. This Isover product is covered by SpecSure Warranty which means that it comes with a guarantee of non-ageing lifetime performance on utilisation as a part of British Gypsum systems.

The Acoustic Partition Roll is lightweight and will not bend under its weight when installed vertically. This Isover APR roll is manufactured with recycled glass to keep it eco-friendly. It also features Zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and Zero Global Warming Potential (GWP) for making it fit to be known as a sustainable insulation alternative. With the Isover Acoustic Partition Roll, the roll does not accelerate corrosion with steel, copper, or aluminium and the material will stay free of vermin or any fungal and bacterial growth.

The Isover Acoustic Partition Roll can be installed in a range of applications including:

  • Internal Partitions
  • Party Floors in New Dwellings
  • Timber Stud Partitions
  • Metal Stud Partitions
  • Twin Timber Frames with or without cavity sheathing board
  • Engineered I-joist Floor

How does Isover Acoustic Partition Roll work?

A standard uninsulated partition has one or more layers of plasterboard fixed to timber or metal studs and has an empty cavity in between. Airborne sound travels through the air from the source of the sound and hits the partition.

Some of the sounds will be reflected, back from the partition and some will be transmitted through it. The amount transmitted through the partition will be lower than the original sound source because some would have been reflected.

When an absorbent material is added into the partition such as mineral wool, reflected sound still occurs but some of the transmitted sounds is absorbed by the absorbent insulation material. This leads to much lower transmission of sounds through the partition compared to that, that is transferred through a partition with an empty cavity.

When we look at mineral wool insulation through a microscope, we can se it is full of holes or pockets in between the individual fibres of glass or rock. When the sound energy impinges on the insulation, it vibrates the fibres, it is impaired by the air pockets and is thus converted into heat energy. Meaning less sound energy makes its way through the partition resulting in an increased level of sound reduction.

How is Isover Acoustic Partition Roll installed within partition walls?

A standard partition wall has one or more layers of plasterboard fixed to timber or metal studs and has an empty cavity in between. Isover acoustic rolls and measured and cut if necessary and then pushed into the cavities of the partition wall. It is essentials the acoustic roll is pushed securely into every part of the cavity. Any rolls that are being joint should be tightly butted together to avoid thermal or acoustic bridging.

The flexibility of the roll makes installation quick and easy. Once the rolls are pushed into the cavities, no fixings are necessary. The plasterboard is then fixed over the partition roll onto the timber or metal studs. The wall can be plastered or decorated.

Please note this is just a guide and a building professional should be consulted before any building work takes place to avoid the wrong product or the wrong method of insulation being used in your property.
