This category consists of TB4000, GA4000, XR4000 (PIR Multi-purpose Boards) and also CW4000 (Cavity Wall Boards). In addition to this, we have also included the PL4000 – which is a PIR insulation board with insulated plasterboard.

The thinnest product manufactured by Celotex is the TB4000. This insulation board is a high-performance, rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation board specifically designed to address thermal bridging and reduce localized heat losses. This product combines both Plasterboard and Insulation making the process quicker and easier to install which will reduce installation time. It also uses a combination of blowing agents with low global warming potential and zero ozone depletion potential (zero ODP).

It can be used throughout a building project to help maintain continuity of the insulation envelope and is suited to floor, wall, and roof systems. Specific applications include perimeter upstand insulation in ground floors and lining door and window reveals in retrofit projects.

Features:

  • This product can be installed by directly bonding (dot and dab) as well as and other fixed installation techniques.
  • The tapered edge of the plasterboard means the installer has maximum flexibility and a speedy insulation.
  • Can be used to improve the standards of the current building regulations.
  • Keeps energy bills low long term and maximises savings.
  • Can be a great product when refurbishing or for new build projects.
  • Inbuilt vapour control layer

TB4000 Celotex Insulation Board (12mm – 40mm)

Can You Dot and Dab Celotex Insulation Board

Celotex PIR insulation board is suitable for dot and dab. Dot and dab is the technique used to attach insulation boards to a wall. It is called dot and dab because it uses dots and dabs of adhesive on a wall or surface. Below we have listed a useful guide on how to dot and dab Celotex.

  • Ensure the wall is sound, secure, free from any contaminants and dry.
  • Dampen wall prior to application.
  • Prepare drywall adhesive by following the specified manufacturer's instructions.

Step 1:

The background should be plumbed for alignment, allowing high spots on the masonry. mark chalk lines on the floor and ceiling to establish the new wall plain. Vertical guidelines on the wall should be marked at 1200mm centres to indicate the positioning of the boards.

The installation should start from an internal corner, a window or a door reveal.

Step 2:

A continuous bed of adhesive should be applied around the perimeter of the wall as well as around any surfaces or other openings. This is especially important when considering the air tightness of the building. All conduits and piping should be installed prior to commencement of all works.

The insulating backing of the laminates should not be removed to accommodate surfaces. With each dab approximately 75 x 250mm in dimension. Individual dabs should not bridge bornes. Typically, the adhesive dab should cover at least 20% of the board area.

Step 3:

The board should be cut approximately 15mm short of the floor to ceiling height and positioned with the bottom edge resting on packing strips.

Tap the board into position with a straight edge checking alignment with the chalk lines. Once positioned the board should be lifted to the ceiling edge using a floor lifter and supported until the adhesive has set.

Once set, nail-able fixing should be applied at the midpoint of the board at approximately 25mm from the board edge, other boards should be installed closely buttered together using the same technique.

Metal framing systems can also be direct bonded to the wall. The same preparation and setting out procedure should be used. Additional vertical and horizonal lengths should be applied around the surfaces, doors and windows. Regardless of the method used, additional consideration should also be given for the fixings of cupboards and radiators etc.
