What is foil or multifoil insulation?

Fiberglass or mineral wool insulation is often used in lofts for insulation. One type of insulation, however, is sometimes overlooked and is known as foil insulation. Due to its highly reflective property, foil is an excellent insulating material. A thin film of foil is used as insulation in this type of technology, which might not perform well. Installing multi foil insulation

Make cutting easy with the correct tools
For easier cutting, we recommend a sharp pair of decorating shears, a utility knife, or an electric rotary cutter for thicker products. Sharp scissors and knives will make your life much easier and ensure you will cut cleanly through the product as opposed to trying to hack through the layers.
Staple into place.
During installation, staple the foil into place using the appropriate size staples as a holding measure to assist you. A heavy-duty stapler will do the job just fine and can be found at any local DIY store. Place staples approximately 50-100mm apart along the edge of the foil.
If you are battening, the most important thing is to choose the correct batten size, this is to ensure you leave the right size air gap for your insulation to work properly.
It is important to make sure that the battens and foil are compressed fully before driving the screw through.
Furthermore, we recommend using non-self-tapping screws in order to prevent the insulation from getting caught around them.
When you are finished installing, tape any joint, tears, or edges using foil tape. In creating an airtight finish, you help to give your insulation the greatest possible performance while eliminating draughts.
The next step is to check for air spaces, which will allow you to install battens. The next step is to install a breathable membrane over the batten.
In addition, you must add a vapor barrier behind the plasterboards as a control layer. Insulating over the rafters will help reduce interstitial condensation.
