100mm Isover Cavity Wall Slab 32
Isover Cavity Wall Slab (CWS) 32 is a glass mineral wool slab that is designed to be applied to improve the wall insulation and thermal performance. The slabs provide thermal performance in external masonry cavity walls. The Isover Cavity Wall Slabs 32 are available in sizes 1200mm by 455mm and come in a range of thicknesses from 65mm to 150mm. The slabs provide thermal conductivity of 0.032W/mK. The cavity slabs are CFC and HCFC Free and offer Zero Ozone Depletion Potential and Zero Global Warming Potential.
The slabs come in compressed packaging and are lightweight. This makes delivering, handling, and storing easy, as well as cutting and installing. The slabs are extremely durable and will last as long as the building does if they are installed correctly. The flexibility of the slabs makes fitting the slabs into the cavity easy.

What is the difference between Cavity Walls Slabs 32, 34 and 36?
The Cavity wall slabs differ in thicknesses available, and the thermal conductivity provided. Different slabs can be used depending on the thermal conductivity you require in your property and the thickness needed for your insulation needs. Each slab is named after the thermal conductivity provided for example, Cavity wall slab 32 provides a thermal conductivity of 0.032W/mK.
Cavity wall slab 32 is easy to cut if necessary and can be cut using a sharp knife. A mat or protective layer should be applied to the floor before cutting so the floor does not get damaged when cutting the slab. A ruler or plank can be used as a tool to hold the insulation slabs in place and provide a guide whilst cutting.

How are Cavity Wall Slabs installed?
Cavity walls slabs are installed in between two masonry walls.
The insulation should be applied whilst the relevant wall is being built. One side of the masonry wall should be constructed with timber joists in place, ready for the cavity slabs to be fitted in each space.
Each cavity within the wall should be measured. The cavity slabs should then be measured and cut to fit into each individual cavity as some cavities can differ in size.
The thickness of the slabs should match the depth of the wall. The slab should then be firmly pushed into the cavity to ensure each edge of the slab is securely in place however, the slabs should not be flattened when being installed as this can affect the thermal performance of the product.
Once the slabs are in place plasterboard can then be applied to the timber joists in the wall using the necessary fixings.
The wall can then be plastered and can then be completed with a decorative finish.
Note, protective gear is recommended when installing wall insulation as the product can produce particles that can irritate the skin and eyes and can be harmful when inhaled.
Eye goggles, gloves, face masks, and protective clothing should be applied when cutting or fitting cavity slabs.
