Isocheck barrier Mat are a weight-enhances flooring systems designed to reduce airborne sound. Their low-frequency damping properties are frequently utilised to improve floors and walls that have been found to fall short of an airborne sound test.
Isocheck weight-enhanced Barrier Mat 5kg (2 – 3mm) and Barrier Mat 10kg (4 – 5mm) is constructed of high-density barium sulphate loaded thermoplastic polymer, plasticised with phthalate esters, and containing mineral fillers. They are black (in colour), bitumen free, ecologically neutral and recyclable.
Commonly used in timber floors, Isocheck Barrier Mats can be laid directly over existing floorboards, draped between joists in floors, sandwiched between two sheets of plasterboard or draped within a studwork wall. In roofs, Isocheck Barrier Mat 5 can be laid directly over a profiled metal deck in a flat roof or built-up metal standing seam roofing.
- Great acoustic properties
- Specially designed for low frequency and airborne sound reduction
- Recyclable and eco friendly
- Bitumen free
- Properly tested and certified.
- Long lasting and durable
Applying acoustic materials to your floor and wall spaces can increase the acoustic properties within the building. Isocheck can reduce impact noise from the room structure to the room below or room adjoining such as footsteps, furniture movement, tv noise, etc. Making a more comfortable environment for rooms below or neighbours adjoining. It can also reduce sound echoes within the space.
For longer term protection on site, the product should either be stored indoors, or under cover and off the ground in weatherproof conditions. The boards packs are designed for short term protection only and they should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.
Isocheck Barrier Mats can be installed in a range of methods. These methods include:

How to guide:
The mat can be installed in a few basic ways including adding them over the timber floorboards, within a studwork wall or alternatively placed between the floor joists or plasterboard sheets.
The mats can be fixed with hangers, banding or pins or bonded with adequate adhesives such as polyurethane or solvent-based adhesives. It is important to divide skirting from the timber floors which can be done with the use of acoustic flanking bands.
Two to three layers applied onto timber floors will dramatically reduce airborne noise passing through the floor from below or airborne noise you are creating being transferred from above.
Barrier Mats can be applied using fixings including pins, hangers, or banding.
Alternatively, it can be bonded using an approved polyurethane, based contact adhesive or a solvent-based acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive. Finished timber floors should be isolated from the skirting using Isocheck Acoustic Flanking Band.
